Mechanical Engineering Department

Mechanical Engineering is the science of exploring the natural resources of power and propulsion and materials of engineering construction through the design, development, production, installation and operation of power plants, transport equipment’s and industrial plants besides the organisation and administration of such plants.

It continues to play a key role in developing, operating and manufacturing new machines, devices and processes to benefit mankind. Mechanical engineers apply their creative imaginations and professional skills to combine both theory and practice in a variety of situations.

Keeping itself up to date with the latest developments and trends in the field and with a dedicated faculty of highly qualified and experienced members in all streams of mechanical engineering, the department consistently strives to provide world class facilities for education and research.

An interactive relationship is maintained between the students and staff which enables the students to develop a sound foundation in the stream in a conducive environment.

To develop the department as a center of excellence in the mechanical engineering education and research.

To create a world-class National & Global “Technical Manpower”.

To inculcate among students teamwork, leadership skills and good communication ability.

Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals.

Message From Head of Department

Mechanical Engineering is one of the major activities in the engineering profession and its principles are involved in the design, study, development and construction of nearly all of the physical devices and systems. Continued research and development have led to better machines and processes helping the mankind. Mechanical engineering is a diverse subject that derives its breadth from the need to design and manufacture everything from small individual parts and devices

The role of a mechanical engineer is to take a product from an idea to the marketplace. In order to accomplish this, a broad range of skills are needed. The mechanical engineer needs to acquire particular skills and knowledge. Perhaps the one skill that is the mechanical engineer’s exclusive domain is the ability to analyze and design objects and systems with motion.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Truba is as old as the Institute itself. Its impact on the institute and on society is easily demonstrated by noting the alignment of the department’s evolution with key events and technological advances in the India and elsewhere.
